Peter Gilligan, PhD, D(ABMM), F(AAM), is the Director of the Clinical Microbiology-Immunology Laboratories at UNC HealthCare and Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He serves as an editor of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology Reviews, and mBio, and as Chair of the Professional Practices Committee for the American Society for Microbiology. Peter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Microbiology and Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. He recently participated in drafting guidelines on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Clostridium difficile infections for the American College of Gastroenterology.
