The Transfusion Laboratory Emergency Response Simulation Course from Mayo Clinic was developed to address a skills gap related to responding to external stressors. The course involves immersive drills that simulate external stressors presented by actors playing the roles of clinical staff. Scenarios are introduced in a systematic manner to prompt learner response. Post-simulation debriefing sessions are included to enable reflection and enhance learning opportunities. With its structured approach and focus on practical application, the course aims to improve the laboratory’s ability to provide quality services and increase patient safety.
